Gretchen Olive Joins eco – Association of the Internet Industry Steering Committee

For more than 25 years, “eco – Association of the Internet Industry” has been an integral part of shaping the digital industry in Europe. From digital infrastructure, internet security, and cloud computing, to domains and more, eco’s expertise, competence, and network promotes new developments and technologies yet always with the required sustainability and responsibility in mind.

The eco Names & Numbers Steering Committee invited Gretchen Olive, CSC’s director of Policy and Global Domain Name Services, to join. The Steering Committee, established in 2017, brings together 16 representatives from all areas of the domain industry. Together, they advise and steer the eco Names & Numbers Forum working group, as well as provide regular stimulus and feedback on current association work.

“It’s a great honor to be invited to join the eco Steering Committee,” says Gretchen. “For more than 20 years, I have been advising companies around the world on domain names, trademark, and online brand protection strategies. Being able to meet and work with this committee and share my expertise on protecting intellectual property rights on the internet, as well as focusing on security, is an exciting opportunity.”

“The internet is an ever-changing landscape,” Gretchen continues. “Interconnections are becoming more and more complex, and over the next 10 years, we’ll see an entire new digital world emerge. While policy always lags behind technology, it’s more important than ever to help policymakers understand the rapidly evolving domain name system, and find ways to close the gap to improve protection for companies and consumers alike. I look forward to working closely with my fellow Steering Committee members and eco to help find ways to make that happen.”
