Corporation Service Company announces New gTLD (.brand) Services

Wilmington, DE (www.cscglobal.com): Corporation Service Company® (CSC®), a leading global provider of domain management and brand protection services, announces the launch of its New gTLD Services, a consulting program designed to give organizations the edge they need when facing the challenges of a vastly more complicated Internet.

In the coming months, the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) will launch a fast-track process for the introduction of potentially hundreds, if not thousands, of new generic top-level domains. These new domains will expand the Internet well beyond the familiar .com, .info, .net, and .org options, giving companies the opportunity to purchase their own gTLDs (example: .brand), personalize their marketing efforts and increase their brand visibility.

But along with the promise of New gTLDs come risk and uncertainty. Lacking the insight required to navigate ICANN’s complex web of policies, politics and infrastructure, many organizations will simply be left behind by the New gTLD expansion.

Corporation Service Company’s New gTLD Services move organizations beyond the questions, offering them the knowledge they need to make the best decisions for the health of their brands. “Applying for a New gTLD doesn’t make sense for all organizations,” says Gretchen Olive, Director of Policy & Industry Affairs at CSC. “But for innovative organizations, this could be a landmark opportunity to change industry dynamics and interact with consumers, donors and business partners in new ways. It is absolutely critical for organizations to pull their leaders together now to choose their path.”

Over the past few years, CSC has educated clients about the New gTLD initiative as part of its overall service efforts. Many clients have requested consulting services to support their internal conversations and decision-making on New gTLDs, as well as assistance when it comes time to submit a New gTLD application. “In the past we were reluctant to commit to consulting engagements because policies were far from settled and any consulting based on those policies was, in our view, mere speculation,” says Olive. “Now, with policy discussions winding down and the launch of ICANN’s New gTLD program imminent, we feel we can provide both constructive and realistic guidance to global organizations on New gTLDs.”

An ICANN-accredited registrar since 2000 and a longtime advocate for intellectual property (IP) rights and their protection online, CSC is today a trusted partner of more than half of the Best Global Brands (Interbrand®/BusinessWeek®). A recent survey by World Trademark Review ranked CSC #1 in customer satisfaction for domain management services. To learn more about CSC’s New gTLD services, visit www.cscglobal.com today.
