“Jersey Shore” Cast Members Find Themselves in a Trademark “Situation”

Snooki & The SituationOh my.  Both Snooki and “The Situation” find themselves trademarkless.  Makes you wonder if they know what a trademark full search is?

Nicole Polizzi aka “Snooki” attempted to register her name in August for “books, namely printed matter” but found her application was denied on the basis of “likelihood of confusion” by the United States Patent and Trademark office examiner.  A trademark was issued in 2004 for a children’s book “Adventures of Snooky” thus blocking her application.

Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino, also of “Jersey Shore” fame, finds himself blocked as well.  He has attempted to trademark “The Situation”, a reference to his six-pack abs, for a clothing line of shirts, underwear, and other apparel.  However, he was denied the trademark because a Tennessee clothing and shoe store beat him to the punch. Yak Shoes Inc. based in Memphis filed for a mark with design back in 2008.

Moral to the story. Jersey Shore cast members – call me! I’ll save you lots of money in attorney fees by running a full trademark search.  CSC offers a great search – one that will keep you from finding yourself in a bad “situation” trademark wise.
