New Zealand registry announces the launch of .kiwi.nz

Internet New Zealand Inc., registry for the .nz country code top-level domain, has announced the launch of a new second-level domain: .kiwi.nz

General Availability for the .kiwi.nz second-level domain will begin on Monday, September 10, 2012, and will be open to all interested parties.

For the first month of General Availability, domain registrations will be provisional and offered on a first come, first served basis.

A provisional registration is being offered because the registry must obtain a minimum of 500 individual registrations within the first month of the launch before .kiwi.nz is considered active and live. DNS delegation will not take place until the minimum requirement is met.

In addition:

  • .kiwi.nz names will be locked after registration to prevent any changes from being made to the record until the minimum requirement is met.
  • If the minimum requirement is not met, any domain names registered during the first month period will not be made live. Clients will only be charged for the provisional month.

If you are interested in applying for a domain name under .kiwi.nz, please speak to your Corporation Service Company (CSC) account manager or contact your customer service representative today.
