Nintendo activates new domain names

Global entertainment giant Nintendo has activated a number of new domain names, it has been reported.

More than 20 domain names relating to the firm’s Wii U device now redirect Internet users to the main company website.

Among the domain names are supermariobrosmii.com, rhythmheavenwii.com, wiibalanceboardu.com and wii-u.com.

Several of the domain names seemingly relate to the New Super Mario Bros. Mii release, which is the only game to have been officially launched on the platform to date.

Nintendo World said it is likely that none of the reserved names will be used for fully fledged websites. The news provider expects the names to continue to be used for redirection purposes “for people who stumble upon them.”
