Property firm snaps up Location.com

The domain name Location.com has changed hands in a major domain name transaction, it has been reported.

eReal Estate Holdings, which already owns and operates Condo.com, Houses.com, and Property.com, has purchased the web address.

The firm has added the domain name to its expanding portfolio “to support the growing local search market for people, events and deals online”.

Richard Swerdlow, chief executive of eReal Estate Holdings, said the purchase made “perfect sense” for the company.

“We are able to leverage our location database, advertising platform, management team and other intellectual property to expand into the broader location-based search market beyond our core focus in the real estate space,” he stated.

“We hope to secure market share in the broad local advertising market through the use of our platform and category domain expertise.”

It is not clear how much the firm has paid for the domain name, but the transaction is unlikely to challenge the all-time record – the $16 million paid for Insure.com in 2009.
