Start-up buys domain name to end customer confusion

The domain name Minus.com has a new owner, it has been reported.

Minus, a company which helps users share files quickly and easily online, has invested in the domain name to boost its online sales strategy.

Previously, the firm had hosted its sharing service at the Min.us domain name, and the acquisition of a .com domain name is seen as a major stride forward.

John Xie, co-founder of Minus, said that while the company loved its quirky .us domain name, it had caused confusion for users attempting to access the website.

“Minus was founded with the philosophy that sharing media online should be simple, fast, and universal,” he commented. “So we did what all successful technology start-ups do – we listened to our users, and acted on their suggestions.”

Minus.com will now be the firm’s primary domain name; however, users will still be able to access the website using the original Min.us address.
