.APP Sunrise Phase Approaches End
The Sunrise phase for .app ends on April 30, 2018. This phase is designed to help trademark owners secure their domains with eligible SMD files. The TLD provides a secure namespace for application developers to host, promote, and showcase their products and services. Google added .app to the HTTP Strict Transport Security (HSTS) preload list, which means that secure connections (SSL certificates) will be required for live sites. The use of HSTS requires registrants to take steps to configure HTTPS for their domains in order for them to work in all major browsers. With the exception of these security requirements, the TLD will be a regular, open TLD that is open to all interested applicants. General Availability begins on May 1, 2018, with a 7 day Early Access Program to start. For more information, please contact your Client Service Partner.
.ICU Domains Now in Sight
April 24, 2018, marks the Sunrise Phase launch of the new gTLD, .icu (“I See You”). ShortDot, the registry behind .icu, positions their TLD as being “geared towards being present, online and live with your customers, readers, and followers 24/7.” The Sunrise phase is first-come, first-served. General Availability begins May 29, 2018. For more information, please contact your Client Service Partner.
