Enhanced security for your high-value digital assets
Now you can add extra layers of security to your digital brand with registry and registrar-level domain locks. Easy, secure two-factor authentication and multi-level locks combat domain hijacking, and protect against unauthorized changes and deletions to your critical domain names.
Two-factor authentication solutions
CSC® offers two-factor authentication (2fa) services to protect your domain names from unauthorized changes and give you peace of mind.
Our CSCDomainManagerSM platform works simply. Access to digital assets is only granted to someone who can provide a username and password along with a unique code. The unique, changing code—the second factor—is something only the authorized user possesses. Without the code, even someone who has obtained a username and password cannot access the system.
CSC MultiLock combines registrar-level and registry locks with three-party manual authorization, as well as a WHOIS lock, to provide the highest level of security for high-value domains.
For changes to be made, three independent parties must provide authorization. This manual, multi-level protocol between the domain owner, CSC, and the applicable registry significantly reduces the likelihood of a domain name being hijacked.
Both server (registry) and client (registrar) locks double security on key operations. CSC MultiLock prohibits:
- Deletions. Ensures a domain name cannot be deleted or lapsed
- Transfers. Rejects unauthorized transfers away from CSC with domain transfer lock
- Updates. Does not allow WHOIS modifications, including name server re-delegations
These locks do not affect CSC’s ability to auto-renew your domain names. At a time when cybercrime is on the rise, two-factor authentication and MultiLock provide strong additional security layers to protect against data theft and keep your digital assets from being compromised.
